HOW TO RIDE THE UP AND DOWN’S OF REAL ESTATE SERVICE IN THE NEW YEAR OF THE WATER SNAKE

Yesterday, as 2012 came to an end, we gave thanks for the many economic, financial, market, and socio- cultural blessings we have received.

We have been reading from several Real Estate groups, economists, financial institutions and different types of gurus about the situation of the Real Estate industry. In general, all seem to be optimistic and indeed we have reason to be so. The trends, opportunities, dangers, and knowing what to do, where to go, and how to do it are in our minds.

Planning for 2013 requires a good understanding of the basic principles of economics, finance, sociology, cultural traits, political climate, business and trade in general, and even environmental issues such as climate change and ecological factors. All these do have a direct impact on Real Estate and our Professional Service.

So, ridding the Water Snake is much more complicated than what one expects. For this year, we shall see what I wrote earlier “fire and rain.”

"By fire, I mean that a Real Estate Service Practitioner has to be ready to go under the forge."

“By fire, I mean that a Real Estate Service Practitioner has to be ready to go under the forge.”

By fire, I mean that a Real Estate Service Practitioner has to be ready to go under the forge. For one to succeed, the fire of being formed, molded, and developed in a holistic way is necessary. Our goals require that we be very well equip with better education, training, skills development, and gain experience and know how. This is the only way we can sustain the growth of our professional prestige.

Moreover, the fire also means that the person needs to develop one’s ethical, moral, and professional values, virtues, good behavior and conduct. This is the fire that will blaze the trail of our profession that will be globally competitive and with international recognition.

"Water is grace, water is life, water brings growth, food, goodness, and all the needs that satisfy the economic demands for making real estate a very prosperous industry."

“Water is grace, water is life, water brings growth, food, goodness, and all the needs that satisfy the economic demands for making real estate a very prosperous industry.”

By rain, I mean water that falls down from the heavenly clouds. This falls to our rivers, lakes, out to the sea, our seas that envelop our beautiful islands, our 7,100 islands into one nation. Water is grace, water is life, water brings growth, food, goodness, and all the needs that satisfy the economic demands for making real estate a very prosperous industry.

However, water can also be a source of destruction. The tragic floods that we experienced last year may happen again. We will also experience the danger of not having enough rain and with it, we shall see drought where the agricultural sector may suffer a setback.

Given these input, information and data from my past four articles and blogs (See www.cuervopropertyadvisory.wordpress.com), we, the Real Estate professionals, must be prepared and save for the rainy days. How? I have been advising my friends who depend on sales income, to start a Real Estate venture that will earn them fixed cash flow.

One must also develop entrepreneurial skills and go into say dormitory business, home care for elderly, to teach and give lectures, organize events, go into tourism ventures, resorts, travel or tours, etc. There are so many possibilities of Real Estate related business and endeavors that can earn one good cash flow and a fix income to take care of the home, children’s education, health and medical care, etc.

The Ying & Yang of Real Estate in 2013 is the balance of fire and rain. It is the ability to ride on the ups and downs of the dancing water snake. We, Real Estate Professionals, need to demand more from self. To try to be exemplary professionals and as we are not in this alone, we must finally integrate! To unite! To act as one body! Our AIPO will happen this year; there is no doubt about it because the mass majority wants to. This is what our Law requires; this is what we ought to do.

But, for this integration to happen, the basic virtue of humility is essential. No single group must dominate, control, impose, and be prejudice against other groups, associations, persons, and/ or line of Real Estate discipline.

We shall finally have our election. Thanks to the patience, leadership, self-less dedication and hard work of our PRC Chairperson, Honorable Teresita Manzala. Let us really behind her. Follow her directives, and implement her instructions. For in doing so we shall unite, integrate, and form one family of Professional Real Estate Practitioners.

God bless us all and our families in this New Year! Good health, happiness, peace, success and prosperity! Mabuhay to 2013 and to our cute dancing water snake that will bring luck to all. With all my affection and prayers!

Good luck!
