Working @ Home: Financial Benefits with E-commerce

Last Saturday, January 25, 2014, my IT Staff, Jhaypee Mendoza, attended a webinar (seminar on internet web) conducted by ” Mother of E-Commerce ” Ms. Janette Toral entitled “Blog Launch, Copywriting, and Social Media Promotions”.

The webinar was on  how we can work, and benefit by engaging in a  business venture,  from our houses. An ” office – residence” has several advantages. Some of which is savings in travel time and expenses, meals, less overhead direct and indirect costs, like fractionalizing your electric, water and telephone or Internet bills. An ideal set up for an office at home, will necessarily require the hardware, work station, in a conducive , quiet environment. With the proper use of the   internet , a Personal Computer or laptop, printer or scanner and other gadgets, One can perform effectively and efficiently E- commerce business, using the right tools and hardware.

However, it is essential that the place of work is conducive to focus with the task in hand situated in a place were one can perform well done work. It is important to have proper work attitudes. Be dressed for The occasion, have a work schedule  and master the proper use of time.

A good Work environment from the home, is also an indispensable  requirement. Ideal would be your own Work- Den, Library, or a a dedicated ” quiet exclusive  corner ” of the home. I suggest to avoid the bedroom , kitchen, Dinning Room or the living room.

If there are no other options, at least the work station should be isolated from the bed, television, radio, and other home facilities that could cause of distinctions . At the end of the day,  Working @ Home requires more discipline, self – mastery and virtues of order, than  that from an ordinary office set up, with several people working. One must be self-motivated. If you build a good brand name, your identity will be attractive. One should build trust and confidence so that the viewers, readers, and customers will win your trust, and for this to happen, one has to invest in time and dedication.

Electronic commerce, commonly known as e-commerce or eCommerce, is a type of industry where the buying and selling of products or services is conducted over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks. Electronic commerce draws on technologies such as mobile commerceelectronic funds transfersupply chain managementInternet marketingonline transaction processingelectronic data interchange (EDI), inventory management systems, and automated data collection systems. Modern electronic commerce typically uses the World Wide Web at least at one point in the transaction’s life-cycle, although it may encompass a wider range of technologies such as e-mail, mobile devices, social media, and telephones as well.

Online business and trade is generally considered to be the sales aspect of e-business. It also consists of the exchange of data to facilitate the financing and payment aspects of business transactions. This is an effective and efficient way of communicating within an organization and one of the most effective and useful ways of conducting business.

E-commerce can be divided into:

  • E-tailing or “virtual storefronts” on websites with online catalogs, sometimes gathered into a “virtual mall”
  • Buying or Selling on various websites and/or online marketplaces
  • The gathering and use of demographic data through Web contacts and social media
  • Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), the business-to-business exchange of data
  • E-mail and fax and their use as media for reaching prospective and established customers (for example, with newsletters)
  • Business-to-business buying and selling
  • The security of business transactions

One way we can earn online is by Blogging. Bloggers can earn by being paid to post articles, advertising, event invites, special freebie deals like gadgets, venues, accommodation and events. If you want to create a blog, you should build an identity or brand name, if you build an identity, you should build trust and confidence to the viewers and readers, and building trust takes time.

The financial benefits using E- Commerce requires creative thinking and innovations. It is knowing how to address the needs of your target market. It is good to “think- out- of – the -box” in order to improve and perfect your service.

Even if E- commerce may sound ” impersonal”, yet for us Filipinos, personal relationships is very important. It is beneficial and financial rewarding to have a good network. One has to be very personable, express ideas with courtesy, good behavior and respect with the practice of ethical standards.
